Unknown Soldier's Day in Russia

On December 3, Russia marks Unknown Soldier's Day. This commemorative date was set by the Federal Law On Amendments to Article 1-1 of the Federal Law On the Days of Military Glory and Commemorative Dates of Russia, signed by the Russian President on November 5, 2014, in order to perpetuate the memory, military glory and the immortal feat of Russian and Soviet soldiers who were killed in the fighting in our country or abroad, whose names remained unknown. The date of the holiday was not chosen randomly: on December 3, 1966, to mark the 25th anniversary of the defeat of German troops near Moscow, the remains of the Unknown Soldier was transferred from a mass grave on the 41st kilometer of the Leningrad Moterway and solemnly buried in the Alexander Garden near the Kremlin in Moscow.
