Joseph Jughashvili (Stalin)

Joseph Jughashvili (Stalin) (December 9 (21), 1879 –March 5, 1953). Joseph Stalin served as People's Commissar of Nationalities of the RSFSR (1917-1923), People's Commissar for State Control of the RSFSR (1919-1920), People's Commissar of the Workers and Peasants Inspection of the RSFSR (1920-1922); Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR (1941-1946), Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers (1946-1953). From 1941 Stalin held the following top military ranks in the USSR: Supreme Commander in Chief of the USSR Armed Forces (from 1941), Chairman of the State Defense Committee (1941-1945), People’s Commissar of Defense of the USSR (1941-1946), People’s Commissar of the USSR Armed Forces (1946-1947). Stalin was also elected as member of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee (1917-1937) and the USSR Central Executive Committee (1922-1938). Stalin held high positions in the Communist Party. He was a member of the Communist Party’s Politburo of the Central Committee (1919-1952), General Secretary of the Russian Communist Party (1922-1925), General Secretary of the Communist Party’s Central Committee (1922-1934), Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee (1952-1953).
