The New Savior monastery on Krutitsky Hill (Krestyanskaya Square 10) was founded in 1490 by Grand Prince of Moscow Ivan III. The walls and the towers were built by Fyodor Kon in the late 16th century while the present building of the New Savior cathedral is dated by 1645 and was commissioned by tsar Mikhail Feodorovich.
