Tugs haul away grounded barges in the mouth of the Don River near the Sea of Azov. Over 50 large ships ran aground after the river's lower reaches grew shallow due to powerful easterly winds that blew all water into the sea. Nominal river depth dwindled by 48 centimeters; and all river traffic will be closed if the river becomes 70 centimeters shallower.
