

The world's first trapping and magnetic confinement of plasma was implemented on the "Liven" ("Heavy Shower") stellarator (in the picture), an experimental thermonuclear reactor, developed and built at the plasma physics and plasma accelerator laboratory of the P.Lebedev Physical Institute under the USSR Academy of Sciences, led by Professor M.Rabinovich. 1970.
