The Lithuanian SSR. Rasa Prasceviciute, the Lithuanian girl who was the first patient in the history of the Soviet medicine to get her feet surgically reattached. In 1983 the girl suffered an accident in which both her feet were cut of by a lawn mower. In less than 24 hours she was brought to Moscow, where doctors of the All-Union Surgical Research Center of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences managed to reattach her feet and help her start walking again.
