The S-300 [SA-10 Grumble/SA-20 Gargoyle] surface-to-air missile system was developed at Almaz NPO named after Raspletin and began to be mass-produced in 1975. Its is designed for the air defense of large industrial and administrative facilities, military bases, and control of airspace against enemy strike aircraft and space weapons and can destroy ballistic targets and missiles. This system is displayed at the MosAeroShow international aerospace show on August 11-16, 1992 at an airfield of the Gromov Flight Research Institute in Zhukovsky near Moscow. In all, 203 Russian and foreign companies showed off 114 aircraft.
