A Neva view of the Winter Palace in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), a residence of Russian emperors and a magnicent monument of barocco architecture of the middle of the 18th century. It was built in 1754-1762 by architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli and, following a fire in 1837, restored by architect Vasily Stasov. In 1918, part of the palace, and since 1922 the entire building, was given over to the Hermitage Museum.
