August 8-14, 1969, under the Soviet lunar and near-lunar research program "Zond-7" space station was launched. The picture was taken by "Zond-7" unmanned station at a distance of 10000 km away from the moon's surface: the left part is brightly lit by the sun, the right one - darkened. The terminator, a border of light and shadow on the moon's surface, is seen in the photograph.
