This 19th century print represents the routine of Loppari, or Saami, in the Kola Peninsula in European Russia's extreme northwest. An Ugrian tribe of hunters and reindeer breeders, the Loppari lived from hand to mouth in hovels and dugouts, and were threatened with extinction up to the 1920s.
