World War Two veteran Serafim Zhmylev, 96, works in the garden near his house in Tambov, Russia. Zhmylev was called to military service in December, 1944 and served in the 603rd reserve regiment in Siberia. Then, in the 314th separate government communications regiment he was sent to the Trans-Baikal Front in Mongolia, where he met the Victory Day. After the end of the war Serafim Vasilyevich served on the border with China, took part in the war with Japan, and fought with nationalists in Ukraine. He was awarded with an Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class. Currently he lives with his daughter Galina in a private house in Tambov.
